Friends of
Uncle Mike, Inc (FOUM) is a charitable,
nonprofit organization formed in memory
of Mike Lynch. It was founded in the hopes of emulating “Uncle Mike’s”
concern and compassion toward the youth
of his day. As a resident of the
Bridgeport neighborhood of Chicago, he
was well-known as a neighbor and friend
a young person could go to for guidance
concerning the challenges presented to
them in their ever-changing
environment. These “big brother”
conversations ranged from education to family crisis to street gangs to
economic hardships. After his passing it
was decided that his legacy should live
on.
Established in 1997,
Friends of Uncle Mike, Inc. has helped
many families in need since its
conception. While the primary focus is
to assist families of children with special needs, FOUM has lent a hand to additional families who struggle with unique situations. The foundation also offers a college scholarship program for young adults who meet specific requirements. Proceeds are received through an annual fundraiser golf outing, with 100% of funds given directly back to the organization.
